Face - Eyelid surgery

Our eyes say it all. So what do they say when they appear dull, heavy and surrounded by sagging skin? In addition to an appearance of tiredness or sadness, heavy eyelids may also obstruct your vision. If you want your eyes to say that you are young, fresh, and happy, consider eyelid surgery from one of our skilled surgeons. Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, may help you look as young as you feel.

Our plastic surgeon understand that every case is different and strive to give you exceptional personal care. We have extensive experience with this procedure, have board-certified anesthesiologists on staff, and perform surgeries in our fully accredited facility.

Eyelid Surgery Benefits

Both the upper and lower eyelids can be addressed with eyelid surgery. There are several benefits of a blepharoplasty procedure performed by the surgeons at UBA. These include:

?뛋mproved vision
?뛗ightened skin around the eyes
??Improved appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes
?뛃 youthful appearance
?뛇liminated fat deposits

During your consultation, you will discuss with your surgeon whether you will benefit most from upper or lower eyelid surgery. Eyelid surgery can also be combined with a face & neck lift or a brow lift for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

Your surgeon will compare your nose with your other facial features and create a look that's tailored to you. Nose surgery can also correct a deviated septum (which often causes breathing obstruction); however, this procedure is not considered cosmetic.

Nasal surgery is performed using an "open" or "closed" procedure. A closed procedure hides incisions inside the nostril, and in an open procedure, the incision is made across the columella (the narrow strip of tissue that separates the nostrils). After the incisions are made, the soft tissue is raised and the nose is reshaped. Once the nose is reshaped, the tissue is redraped and the incisions are closed.

After your rhinoplasty, splints or internal tubes may be necessary to help healing, particularly during the first week. For the next few weeks, initial swelling will subside, and your nasal contour will become more refined. It is important to protect your nose from any injury due to physical activity for the following 4 to 6 months following the procedure. The results of a rhinoplasty generally are permanent, and many women and men report that they are pleased with their new look.

Eyelid Surgery Procedure

Depending on whether a patient is considering upper or lower eyelid surgery, the procedure may differ. With incisions made in the crease of the upper eyelid, excess skin is removed and the upper lid is elevated. For lower eyelid surgery, the incisions are either hidden inside the lower eyelid, or made just below the lashes. While skin is removed, muscle and fat are often removed and contoured as well.

In general, eyelid surgery takes about 1 to 3 hours. Blepharoplasty may be performed as an outpatient procedure, and can include both upper and lower eyelid surgery. This procedure may be performed under local anesthesia. Most patients report that downtime is minimal, and normal activity can be resumed within a week of the procedure.
